Tinuku Travel ~ Takpala Village is a traditional village on a hill but not so far from the coast in Lembur Barat sub-District, Alor Tengah Utara District, Alor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, has dozens of Lapo and Fala Foka or traditional houses Limasan-shaped thatched neat. Traditional village inhabited by Abui tribe very friendly as the largest tribe on Alor island.

Abui tribe in the Takpala village utilize natural products mainly forest with farming or hunting so that during day the village became deserted because most of them went in search of food into the forest to hunt. Abui tribe of native food is cassava, corn and Katemak is rice mixed with cassava and corn.

Takpala village early in its history inhabited the high slopes of Mount Alor, but the envoy of King Alor who want to collect taxes it difficult to reach the village, then the village was moved to the lower area and within easy reach.

Lapo is Abui tribal house very simple but homely. Wood construction, Limasan architectural style and thatched roofs open like gazebo with a meter-high wall of bamboo. The house has 6 poles of redwood and can last for decades. Lopo house has two types is Kolwat open to the public including children and women, while Kanuruat only be used by certain circles.

Fala Foka is very spacious tribal home, has four floors and is inhabited by 13 families. the 1nd floor is used to gather and receive guests, the 2nd floor for bedroom and kitchen, the 3nd for storing corn and other crops and the 4th to store items such as moko, gong, weapons and more. Residents Takpala is the first in the world to build traditional houses four floors.

Kampung Takpala regularly hold a Potong Kebun ritual every October to November is to prepare the fields for planting corn, every December is a ritual to start planting. First cleaning fields ritual held every January, and second cleaning ritual March to April. In May-June is the harvest corn and beef cattle ritual.

Reach access: 11 km from Kalabahi city.

Routes and public transport: All visits to Mali Airport or Baranusa Port in Kalabahi city. Then use car to Takpala for 20 minutes.
