Tinuku Travel ~ Mappanretasi Sea Festival is an annual cultural festival of Bugis tribe carried out by generations every April on Pagatan beach, Pagatan City, Kusan Hilir District, Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan. Mappanretasi or Mappanre and Tasi in Bugis is the ritual of feeding the sea as a culture of entire tribes in Tanah Bumbu.

Mappanretasi Sea Feast held for three weeks in April as a form of thanksgiving ceremonial to God for the sustenance bestowed on the Pagatan beach as the main source of livelihood Pagatan Bugis people who work as fishermen and the top event is the release of offerings to the sea.

A Sanro is pagatan Bugis traditional leaders whose title was obtained for generations of ancestors as master of ceremonies accompanied by 12 maids, 6 men and 6 women using traditional boats from the beach out to sea.

Sanro put offerings into the sea contains some foods are barengseng bananas, king bananas, white rice, black rice, yellow rice and red rice to symbolize the elements of earth, while the black chicken or Si Kadi and hen or Si Manis to symbolize life.

The offering are transported by fishing boat that had been prepared by the people and were greeted by maids of Sanro. While Sanro signaled that the ship departed from coast into the midpoint of beach. Ceremony predetermined point on the night before main event held. Washout offerings accompanied by prayer ceremony right on point.

A three-week festival presents unique and diverse culture is Malibu Village or Cultural Parade involving tribes in Tanah Bumbu, rowing competition, Masukkiri, Balogo, Habsyian, fishermen culinary festivals and various other traditional activities.

Pagatan beach has a width of 200 meters, length of 1.5 kilometers, 1.5 hectares, and white sand. Tanah Bambu District has beautiful coast line of the other is Angsana Beach in Angsana District and Rindu Alam Beach in Sungai Loban Regency.
