Tinuku Travel ~ Candi Dieng complex are ruins of Hindu Shiva architecture at a height of 2093 meters above sea level on Dieng plateau, Wonosobo, Central Java. A separate set of temples in four groups and occupies an area 1900 meters long and 800 meters wide in the valley of Mount Prau.

Dieng temple could have been built between the end of the 8th century until the beginning of the 9th century as the oldest temple in Java. Until now has not found written information about the history of the temple, but the archaeologists estimate were built by the kings of Sanjaya dynasty of descendants Medang empire, then the ruling established the Mataram empire.

Around complex discovered a statue of Shiva and an inscription dated 808 AD which is the oldest inscription written in ancient Javanese. Dieng temple construction is estimated to take place in two stages. The first phase until the first quarter of the 8th century, includes construction of Arjuna, Semar, Srikandi and Gatotkaca.

The temples in Dieng area separated into 4 groups based on the names of the characters in the puppet story from the Mahabharata is a group of Arjuna temples, Gatotkaca temples, Dwarawati temples and Bima temples.

At Arjuna temples in the center of the area consists of four temples that line extends from the south then lined up to the north is the Srikandi temple, Sembadra temple and Puntadewa temple. Right in front of Arjuna is the Semar temple. All facing west, except Semar overlooking Arjuna.

Temples in Arjuna have a rectangular basic layout with an area of 4 meters. The temple sits on a stone foundation height of 1 meter. On the west side are stairs leading to the entrance to a small room inside the temple. The door has a walk-in bay 1 meter. Above the door decorated Kalamakara carvings.

The exterior walls north side, the south and west has a stone structure juts out, forming a frame a niche where the statues. Each frame is decorated with carved niches paste. The bottom ornate dragon head and mouth open. At the top of the frame are Kalamakara ornaments without lower jaw. On the wall in left and right is a niche as a place to put the statue.

Cuboid tiered roof and getting up smaller, but the top of the roof was destroyed. On each side of each cube are niches and on every corner are ornaments shaped like a rounded crown and pointed-toe. In the middle of the room in the temple is a yoni.

Gaatotkaca temples comprises five temples is the Gatotkaca tenple, Setyaki temple, Nakula temple, Sadewa temple, Petruk temple, and Gareng temple. Within this group only Gatotkaca which still appears to have the most obvious structure, while four other temples in ruins.

Dwarawati temples comprises four temples are Dwarawati temple, Abiyasa temple, Pandu temple and Margasari temple. Within this group only Dwarawati which still appears to have the most obvious structure, while three other temples in ruins.

Bima temples has only one and is located on a hill. This temple is the largest building in the collection Dieng temple and different forms of temples in central Java. Square layout, but each side is a viewer that stand out, making ground-plan Bima temple look like octagonal.

Kailasa Museum is built around the temple complex to store variety of inscriptions and statues, replicas of temples, kitchen and garden utensils Dieng citizens. Collections could to dig deeper into the history of Dieng temple complex as a whole.
