The travelers feel directly the aura of death in indigenous culture that blends with nature. Lemo has been built since the 16th century as the tomb of Toraja tribal leaders who live in the mountains, coffee plantations and lush expanse of paddy fields.

Wall has 75 grave stone with a size of 3x4 meters, each hole contains a family grave stone with 4 to 10 bodies. Dozens of plastered stone tombs in the cliffs of the rock fused with old culture and Toraja panoramic mountain in Tana Toraja.

Wooden sculptures called tao-tao or tau-tau placed in the terrace wall as a representation of people who have died. Not all of the grave of the Toraja people can get tao-tao, only nobles were entitled and must meet the requirements of the tribe.

In some places appear coffins stacked or set according to the family lineage. The oldest graves in this place is an indigenous leader named Songgi Patalo. The front of the hole serves to insert the bodies, some covered with carved wooden doors or just bamboo.

Wooden statues carved detail on the palm upwardly and downwardly who has a philosophy of asking for and giving. The hand position reflects the position of life and death that the man who had died in need of assistance prayer of surviving descendants in order to reach heaven or Puya through traditional ceremonies, while the people who live expecting a blessing to still accompany the life of children and grandchildren.
